Odds are your browser is configured not to accept cookies. Mybookcorner, like most sites that require a security log on, requires cookies to know a secure logon has occurred. Unfortunately, it cannot work unless cookies are enabled.

If you're using the Internet Explorer browser (version 6), here's how you can enable cookies:

  • Click Tools/Internet Options
  • On the Privacy tab, move the slider down to the bottom and the "Accept All Cookies" setting.
  • Click OK to save your settings. Then exit Internet Explorer.
When you start Internet Explorer again, cookies will be enabled, and you can use mybookcorner successfully.

If you're using the Internet Explorer browser (version 5), here's how you can enable cookies:

  • Click Tools/Internet Options/Security
  • Click on the Internet symbol (the globe) and then click on the Custom Level button
  • In the Security Settings window, scroll down until you get to the "Cookies" section
  • The setting "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" should be "Enable"
  • The setting "Allow per session cookies" should be "Enable"
  • Click OK twice to save your settings. Then exit Internet Explorer.
When you start Internet Explorer again, cookies will be enabled, and you can use mybookcorner successfully.

I'm about to logon for the first time. What do I need to do?
You will have an ID and temporary password given to you by your teacher or myBookCorner Administrator.
  • Enter your ID in the Reader ID box and your password in the Password box.
  • Click the Start Now button
  • Next, you need to give yourself a personal password. Enter a new password in the New Password box.
  • Type your new personal password again in the Repeat New Password box (this prevents a bad password from a typing mistake).
  • Click the Submit button
You'll now be sent to the myBookCorner home page. From now on, simply enter your ID and personal password to logon.

I've forgotten my ID or password.
For students, your teacher may have your ID or password available. You also may have the name of a myBookCorner Administrator you can contact for help.

Otherwise, click here to contact myBookCorner. We can quickly get you back up and running.

But, in any case, please let us know you need help. We want you to be able to use and enjoy myBookCorner.

I get the error message "Invalid ID and/or password" when I try to logon. What is wrong?
You have entered an incorrect Reader ID or password (or even possibly both!). Check again what the correct spelling is and try to login once more.

I filled in my Reader ID and password but nothing happens. What's wrong?
You must click the Start Now button after entering your ID and password.

I get the error "Page cannot be found" or "Error 404 Not Found" after clicking Start Now.
There are the infamous "technical difficulties" with the Internet that are preventing myBookCorner from coming up! Try again later - these problems usually clear up in an hour or two.

By the way, myBookCorner is always available - 7 days x 24 hours. It is never brought down for "maintenance". So if you can't get to it, the problem is something with the Internet's plumbing and should be better shortly!

I'm creating a new ID and password. Are there any rules I need to follow?
Yes. Naturally, the most important rule is to select an ID and password combination that can't be easily guessed. Remember, we're on the Internet, and there's some expert guessers out there! And never tell your password to anyone, even friends.

There are also some simple guidelines for IDs and passwords:

  • IDs and passwords must be at least five characters long
  • They must not contain any embedded spaces
  • They must not contain any embedded periods
  • The password cannot be the same as the ID

The Change Reader Password/ID page has me confused. What do I need to fill in to change my ID or password?
The general rule is only fill in what you are changing.
  • Only fill in the New Reader ID box if you want to change your ID. Whatever you enter here becomes your new Reader ID. Leave this box blank if you only want to change your password.
  • Want to change your password? You must enter your new password twice: once in the New Password box and again in the Repeat New Password box. (This protects against bad passwords from typos.)
  • Click the Submit button to make the change(s).
  • To cancel, click any menu item (e.g. Home) in the myBookCorner menu at the top of the screen. This will transfer you out of the page. (But once you click Submit the changes were made.)

I get this error when adding a book: "Timeout - your book was not saved. You must log back in now to save your book."

The system timed out while you were typing up your book. It hasn't been saved to your Book Corner yet.

All you have to do is immediately log back in to myBookCorner. Your book is then automatically added to your Corner.

You must act immediately however. Once you leave the logon error page you lose the information needed to "find" your lost book. (So if you have left that page use your Back browser button until you find that logon error page! Then logon right away.)
